Urgent Request

September 1, 2011

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST to all my dear friends in the Lord,

We need your immediate prayers … and help!

“A recent court ruling is threatening to end the unprecedented access we’ve had for the last 10 years to hold our after-school Good News Clubs in public school facilities!

This is important because this is the best place to reach children who will never come to church – which is 80% of children these days!”  (This came from Reese Kauffman)

Dear ones, you have heard me (Patricia) say many times, that we have no idea how long this door will remain open! Now is the time!  The U.S. Appeals Court in New York made a ruling that may well be used against us if the decision is allowed to stand.

Reese Kauffman, president of CEF Inc.  writes: “As soon as I saw the article about schools being able to ban churches from using their facilities for worship on the weekend, I called up Mat Staver at the Liberty Counsel and asked him: Is this a ruling that could also affect our clubs?

He said, “YES, AND IT’S SERIOUS.”

There are several things every friend of CEF and the children should do immediately:

  • Pray!  Let’s pour out our hearts to God for the sake of our children!
  • Churches adopt a schools now!  We need churches to adopt a school in their community and take ownership of a Good News Club.  Together we can reach the children!
  • Tell Others! Anyone who loves children needs to know about this threat so they can pray!
  • Volunteer to help! If you have ever thought about volunteering to help in a Good News Club,
Now is the time to do it!  Right now, we still have Supreme Court law on our side but we need many more volunteers and teachers who will start Good News Clubs.  We must reach out to as many children as possible while we can.

We praise the Lord for your help this past year.  We were able to reach 656 children in CEF ministries this past school year with 131 children who were counseled for salvation.  We were only in 13 schools last year and have over 290 schools in our area.  The need for churches to adopt schools and people to become involved in present clubs in urgent.
  • Please Give whatever you can to help us get the word out and complete this urgent work.

Reese’s wrote: “In one sense, we must be doing something right to get our enemy, Satan, so upset.  Not only may this court case affect our clubs, but I hear there’s a new book coming out early next year claiming that Good News Clubs are part of some “right-wing conspiracy” to brainwash America’s children!”

Dear ones, this is urgent and I am asking you to join us in prayer for Cincinnati children and the children of our nation.  Please get involved in every way you can.  Please Pray, Tell others, Volunteer, and Give your most generous gift, so we can reach more children for Christ here in Cincinnati “while it is still day”.

His Servant and Yours for the Children,

Patricia A. Beatty

In his book, Everything by Prayer, Mr. Overholtzer: founder of CEF makes his prayer philosophy very clear:

“Every spiritual program must be defended and supported by definite believing prayer. Every God-called man and every God-planned enterprise must have praying folk to pray out the problems. To carry on the work of God is to wage a terrific warfare with Satan and all his hosts. Before the battle there must be preparation wrought in prayer; during the battle the warriors must be upheld by those guided of God to be intercessors; after the battle there should be praise.”
